Day of Days

Posted by boyski on March 4, 2008

Tuesday. March 4, 2008. H-Hour.

As Bill Richardson stated on Sunday during the show Face the Nation, this is D-Day for the Clinton Campaign.

Can the battle hardened veteran legions of the Hillary Camp successfully storm Obama beach and wrestle control of the Democratic party from the clutches of Barrack’s untried grass root volunteers? Only time will tell. As with the storming of the beaches of Normany many years ago, much did not go as planned but in the end the beaches were taken. So with that said, can Hillary pull this off?

Whatever happens, tonight is going to be one heck of a news watching experience. Oh and even if Richardson was a bit of a wimp to not endorse a candidate either way, he does score points for the metaphor.

The Red Baron Flies Again!

Posted by boyski on March 4, 2008

For those of you that did not pay attention to the news today, or don’t pay attention to the news in general, you definitely need to check out the video below that shows a German Lufthansa A320 struggling to land in a wind storm outside of Hamburg Germany yesterday.  Good lord! That pilot did an amazing job pulling out of that potential nightmare!

I’d like to say, and to think, that most pilots would be able to escape a situation like that, but something tells me that realistically, that isn’t the case. Probably a few pilots from the British, Japanese, German and American airlines could definitely do a repeat of this. Now if the pilot was from Belarus or Ecuador, not so sure about that one….

Anyways, so I wonder what was racing through that pilots mind while he was confronted with this situation, in fact I wonder what was going through the minds of the mostly German (stoic) passengers on that plane! I mean, if I was on that plane, the aircraft wouldn’t be less then two miles away from the landing strip when I’d be screaming at the top of my lungs “ABORT!!! ABORT!!!” (in between my high pitched squeals of displeasure mind you!)

Regardless, hat’s off to those pilots. I just hope Lufthansa gives these pilots more than a few extra weiss wursts and leben kuchen for Christmas this year!
